Three Telugu students on their way to work killed in Florida road crash; families seek govt help

Three students from the Telugu states, including one from Nizamabad, were killed in a road accident in Florida after their car crashed into a tree, according to Nirupa Vatyam's report by The Times of India. The students were reportedly travelling to their part-time workplaces when the accident took place on Interstate 95 in Brevard County.

The driver and the front-seat passenger died at the scene. N Rahul, from Navipet in Nizamabad district, was seated in the rear and later died at a hospital while receiving treatment. His family was informed about the accident around 3 am on Wednesday.

The other two victims were identified as Subramanyam Chaturvedula and G Anil. Currently, there was no concrete information regarding their hometowns.

Rahul had completed his master's degree and was living in South Florida while planning to pursue a PhD, his family said. They said he had chosen to remain in the US because he was concerned that returning to India could make it difficult to go back amid changes to US immigration rules.

Rahul's father, Hari Babu, appealed to the state government to help bring his son's remains back to India, TOI reported.

"All we want now is my son's mortal remains to reach us at the earliest. They are not letting anyone go near him as the investigation is still ongoing. A Telugu association is helping us in the US, but we also hope the state govt steps in and ensures that my son's body is brought back," he said. Sources also said a fourth person was in the car and is currently in police custody, TOI reported.

According to his family, Rahul regularly spoke to them. On the day of the accident, he spoke to his mother before ending the call when his friends arrived to pick him up for work. It was his last conversation with the family.

Rahul had returned home about three months ago to attend his sister's wedding. Subramanyam and Anil were reportedly his roommates. One of them is said to have been from Nalgonda, while the other was also from one of the Telugu states.
