The new route is expected to provide Indian travellers with a more convenient way to reach the island without a connecting flight.

Sun PhuQuoc Airways will launch its first direct India route between Ahmedabad and Phu Quoc in Vietnam on December 3, offering five flights a week. The service will reduce travel time for Indian holidaymakers visiting the island, with one-way fares starting at Rs 9,596, including taxes and fees. The route will initially operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, with the frequency scheduled to increase to daily flights from early February 2027.

Flight 9G315 will depart Phu Quoc International Airport at 7.35 pm and arrive in Ahmedabad at 11.30 pm local time. The return flight, 9G314, will leave Ahmedabad at 1 am and arrive in Phu Quoc at 7.15 am.

The service will be operated using Airbus A321neo aircraft. According to the airline, fares include 23 kg of checked baggage and 7 kg of cabin baggage. Onboard food and beverage options will also cater to Indian passengers, taking cultural and religious preferences into account.

The airline has announced introductory one-way fares starting at Rs 9,596 for travel from Ahmedabad to Phu Quoc. Fares for the return segment start at VND 2,619,000. These promotional prices apply to the first four flights on each leg.

Passengers booking through the airline's official website or mobile application between October 16 and November 13, 2026, are eligible for an additional 20 per cent discount on the base fare, according to the announcement. However, the promotional travel period stated in the announcement runs through June 3, 2026, a date that precedes the booking and launch dates and requires clarification from the airline.

The airline is also offering a complimentary package that includes Sun World Hon Thom cable car tickets, WOW Pass priority access and discounts of up to 30 per cent on selected resorts and entertainment services in Phu Quoc.

Direct connectivity targets Indian tourists

Phu Quoc has seen a sharp rise in Indian visitors despite the absence of direct flights. The airline said the island welcomed around 150,000 Indian tourists in 2025, a 328 per cent increase from the previous year. Vietnam received approximately 746,000 visitors from India during the same year, making India one of its leading international tourism markets.

The new route is expected to provide Indian travellers with a more convenient way to reach the island without a connecting flight. From Phu Quoc, passengers can also access the airline's network serving destinations including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Van Don and Hai Phong.

Ahmedabad is the airline's first Indian destination, but further expansion is planned. Sun PhuQuoc Airways aims to introduce additional routes to Indian cities in the first quarter of 2027. Its fleet is expected to grow to 33 aircraft by the end of 2026 and 58 by the end of 2027, supporting its plans to expand international connectivity.
