"The situation is frightening. We are fine as of now, but we cannot be sure about our safety. Attacks are happening even at the places where students were relocated," said a Kashmiri student in a video message, without disclosing his location.
The students were worried that the embassy in Tehran has advised everyone to stay wherever they are but suggested that students can be dropped at the Iran-Armenia border at their own risk and only after prebooking Armenia-Delhi tickets and bearing logistical costs during transit. "Students have been told that they can travel at their own risk. How is that safe? We are ready to pay for chartered flights for safe evacuation of our students," said a parent here in Srinagar. They demanded that evacuation should happen immediately as was the case in 2025.

Another parent said they chose to send their children to Iran for studies as the country had good diplomatic ties with India. "We received over 18 distress calls from Indian students stranded in Iran, particularly from Isfahan, where 32 Indian medical students are staying... Students reported that they were moved underground into a basement after an attack near Darvaze-ye Shirazi, close to their hostel," said Moomin Khan of All India Medical Students Association.
Students from Qom reported that they were relocated after nearby residential buildings were targeted.
