The Saudi civil aviation authority on Sunday announced an attack on Dammam airport in the kingdom's Eastern Province, in a statement released shortly after the Iran-aligned Houthis said they had targeted the airport.

The attack on King Fahd International Airport in Dammam occured soon after a projectile struck a passenger terminal at the international airport in Riyadh.

Earlier on Saturday, a missile had hit the same terminal, killing more than ten people and injuring at least 300 people at the site. The Houthis claimed responsibility for the attacks at Riyadh Airport and others.

Saudi authorities said there were injuries in the latest attack on the King Khalid International Airport complex for terminals 3 and 4 for domestic flights, AP reported.

The missile attack on Saturday was the deadliest in a Gulf Arab nation since the Iran war began, with around 300 people wounded, some critically.

The authorities announced closure of the airport, which remained closed on Sunday.
