"With this, 2003 Indian nationals have been brought back safely from Iran so far," the Ministry of External Affairs said in a post on X.
On Saturday, under Operation Sindhu, a special flight carrying 285 Indian nationals from Mashhad landed in Delhi. The passengers, hailing from states including Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.
Further, India has evacuated 160 Indian nationals from Israel and Jordan on Sunday. The missions organised the first batch of evacuation from Israel as the Indian nationals living in Israel constantly grappled with the sounds of sirens, frequently taking cover in bunkers and fortified safe rooms from incoming missiles and drones from Iran.
"A total of 160 Indians have reached the Jordanian border for evacuation in the first batch," the embassy source told PTI.
India launched Operation Sindhu last week to bring back Indians from Iran and Israel, given increasing hostilities between the two nations.
