Oman has extended the grace period for foreign nationals who are in irregular immigration status, allowing them more time to regularise their paperwork or leave the country without facing overstay fines. The updated deadline now runs until December 31, 2025, according to the latest announcement.

Extension gives affected individuals more time

The extension follows an earlier initiative that began on June 24, 2025, under which foreign nationals were permitted to regularise their status without penalty until July 31, 2025. During this period, individuals could apply for a new visa or exit Oman without being charged for overstaying. The Royal Oman Police continues to oversee the process and is advising affected individuals to visit the nearest office to complete the required steps.

Regularisation window aims at easing compliance

The initiative is introduced to help individuals who have fallen out of lawful status meet immigration rules without incurring financial penalties. Authorities have encouraged eligible foreign nationals to use the grace period to address their immigration status before the new deadline.
