New Zealand Parent Resident Visa applicants receive estimated selection dates under the queue system
New Zealand has released a new system that allows applicants to monitor their position in the Parent Resident Visa queue. The Immigration New Zealand agency is employing a mixed selection method, which includes both queue selection and ballot draw...

Immigration authorities expect to select around 90 per cent of expressions of interest (EOIs) through the queue, with the remaining 10 per cent chosen through regular ballot draws. The estimated dates are indicative and may change after each quarterly selection round.
Immigration New Zealand has also published estimated queue selection dates on its website under the new hybrid selection process. The dates are intended to help applicants and their sponsors plan while waiting for their EOIs to be selected.

Under the hybrid system, Immigration will select approximately 90 per cent of EOIs from the queue, with the remaining 10 per cent selected through regular ballot draws.
This means applicants do not necessarily have to wait until their estimated queue selection date. Their EOIs could also be picked through the ballot process before that date.
Selection dates
Immigration New Zealand has clarified that the estimated selection dates are only a guide and are subject to change as selection rounds take place and applications move through the system.
The department will update the estimates after every quarterly selection round. Applicants and sponsors have been advised to check the published information regularly, as their positions and expected selection dates may change over time.

The queue estimates are intended to provide greater clarity about the likely waiting period, but they do not guarantee selection on a particular date.
Four months to apply after invitation
Applicants whose EOIs are selected will receive an invitation to apply (ITA) for residence. Once the invitation is issued, they will have four months to submit their residence application.
There is no requirement to prepare the full residence application before receiving an ITA. However, Immigration New Zealand has advised applicants that they may find it useful to familiarise themselves with the visa requirements and the supporting documents they will need.
This preparation could be particularly useful because applicants may be selected through the ballot pathway during any quarterly draw, even if their estimated queue selection date is further away.
Where to check selection dates
Applicants can check their queue entry information and estimated selection dates through Immigration New Zealand's official website.
The department has advised sponsors and applicants to monitor the published estimates after each quarterly selection round to keep track of any changes.
