Khalistani outfit Sikhs for Justice threatens to 'siege' Indian Consulate in Canada, targets envoy
US-based Khalistani group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) has threatened to “siege” the Indian Consulate in Vancouver on September 18, urging Indians to stay away. The group also circulated a poster targeting new High Commissioner Dinesh Patnaik. SFJ said...

SFJ said its proposed "siege" of the Indian Consulate in Vancouver would be a way to demand "accountability" for what it described as "espionage and intimidation on Canadian soil."
Earlier this month, a Canadian government report acknowledged the presence of Khalistani terror groups in the country.
India and Canada recently named their new high commissioners after an understanding was reached between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Canadian counterpart Mark Carney during Modi's visit to Canada for the G7 summit in June.
Relations between the two countries had been tense since 2023, when then Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said his government had "credible allegations" linking Indian agents to the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Surrey, British Columbia.
Nijjar, who was declared a terrorist by India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA), was shot dead outside a gurdwara on June 18, 2023. India rejected Trudeau’s claims, calling them "absurd" and "motivated," and accused Canada of letting extremist and anti-India activities grow unchecked.
