Airline group Lufthansa is offering extra flights to Asia and Africa in the coming weeks due to ‌high demand, it said on Tuesday.

Among the routes served by additional flights are Munich-Singapore, Frankfurt-Cape Town and Frankfurt-Riyadh, Lufthansa said.

"Austrian Airlines has already set ‌up 10 special flights from Vienna to Bangkok and back," the group added in a statement.

Lufthansa pointed to a "rise in demand for long-haul flights at short notice."

The global airline ‌industry is experiencing one of its sharpest shocks in recent years as key hubs in the Middle East, like Dubai and Doha, are severely restricted due to the Iran war.
