The Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi has issued an advisory for Indian nationals in the United Arab Emirates, urging them to remain vigilant and follow local authorities’ guidelines amid ongoing regional tensions and airspace disruptions.

In the advisory on March 5, the mission said Indians in the UAE should stay calm and keep monitoring official updates as the situation evolves.

Limited flights to India being arranged

The embassy said that due to exceptional circumstances, airspace restrictions have temporarily disrupted regular scheduled flights. However, Indian and UAE airlines are working to operate limited non-scheduled flights to destinations in India, subject to operational and safety approvals.

Stranded Indian nationals have been advised to stay in touch with their respective airlines to check the availability of these special flights.

Overstay fines waived for affected travellers

The advisory also highlighted a recent announcement by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security, which waived visa overstay fines for visitors and residents who could not leave the country due to flight disruptions and airspace closures.

The waiver applies to travellers who were unable to depart after February 28 because of the exceptional circumstances affecting regional air travel.

Embassy operations and helplines

The embassy said that both the mission in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General of India in Dubai continue to function normally, including outsourced passport, visa and consular services.

Indian nationals facing difficulties can contact the embassy’s helplines or reach out through official email channels for assistance. Authorities also advised members of the Indian community to keep track of updates through the embassy’s website and official social media handles.

The Government of India said it remains in close contact with UAE authorities and community leaders and is closely monitoring developments to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the Indian diaspora in the Gulf nation.
