In its statement, the MEA also advised other residents who were self sufficient in terms of transport to move out of the city in view of the developing situation.

"The Embassy remains continuously in touch with the community with a view to extending all feasible assistance. Further advisories may be issued given the fluid situation," the statement added.
As hostilities between Israel and Iran escalate, 100 Indian students from Urmia in northwestern Iran had reached the Armenian border by Monday evening. They are expected to be evacuated by air on Tuesday, officials said.
There are around 10,000 Indian nationals in Iran, including nearly 6,000 students. In light of the worsening security situation, the Indian government has started relocating students to safer locations within the country. Approximately 600 students have already been moved from Tehran to Qom, which is considered relatively safer. Students from Shiraz and Isfahan are also being shifted to Yazd.
