Dr. T N Subramaniam, a distinguished mathematician of Indian origin known for creating Route One company and the server for General Motors, passed away in Michigan at the age of 76. Subramaniam, who moved to the US in 1979, was highly respected in academic circles both in India and the US, leaving behind a legacy of groundbreaking mathematical models and theories.

He was initially employed by General Motors to develop mathematical models for GM cars. Subsequently, he established Route One company, which manages auto-financing for all GM cars and GPS systems. He was also the mastermind behind the server for the General Motors site in Troy, Michigan, in the US.

During a personal meeting while on tour, the then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi encouraged him to pursue innovative endeavors that would bring pride to the nation.


Dr. Subramaniam is survived by his wife, daughter, and son-in-law, who serve in the Biden administration in Maryland, US. He is also survived by his younger brother, TN Ashok, an International Blogger of TNA Talk and former Editor (Economics) of Press Trust of India.
