The Embassy of India, Tehran has advised Indians in Iran to leave the country using available means of transport, including commercial flights, in view of the evolving situation. The advisory was issued on February 23, 2026.

The mission said the guidance follows an earlier advisory issued on January 5, 2026. It urged Indians currently in Iran, including students, pilgrims, businesspersons and tourists, to depart at the earliest.

The advisory was shared by the embassy on a post on X.


The embassy reiterated its January 14 advisory asking all Indian citizens and Persons of Indian Origin to exercise caution. It advised them to avoid areas of protests or demonstrations and to remain in contact with the embassy. They were also asked to monitor local media for updates.


The advisory said Indians should keep their travel and immigration documents, including passports and identification papers, readily available at all times.

Helplines and registration link

The embassy shared emergency contact numbers for assistance: +989128109115, +989128109109, +989128109102 and +989932179359. It also provided an email contact.

Indians in Iran who have not yet registered with the embassy have been asked to do so through the online form available on its website. In case of internet disruptions in Iran, families in India have been requested to complete the registration on their behalf.
