The Embassy urged citizens to take note of official instructions and follow the same as the Saudi authorities released an advisory for citizens.

It requested citizens to remain calm and follow official instructions if they receive warning messages from the National Early Warning Platform for Emergencies.

Immediately proceed to the nearest safe place (inside a building or an interior room away from windows) and stay there until the danger has passed, it said, asking citizens not to leave their homes or building until the danger has passed.

Other instructions included:

  • Stay away from open areas, windows, and glass, and do not stand on balconies or roofs.
  • If you are outdoors, enter the nearest building or take shelter behind a solid barrier.
  • Avoid crowds or going to dangerous areas, and refrain from taking photos.
  • If you receive the warning message while driving. pull over to the side of the road away from bridges and high-rise buildings.

International airlines were warned by the Houthi-controlled Foreign Ministry that flights to Saudi airports were “unsafe” except those serving the holy sites of Mecca and Medina.

The ministry, as quoted by AP, said the kingdom “must realize that security, stability, and sovereignty must belong to everyone — otherwise, no one will enjoy them."

The rebels also warned that oil facilities of the Saudi oil giant Aramco are legitimate targets and asked people, including workers, to avoid the sites.
