Parents in panic as Indian Embassy urges students to leave Iran amid escalating crisis
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has issued a fresh advisory for Indians in Iran, urging them to leave the country by available means, including commercial flights, amid an evolving security situation. The advisory follows an earlier travel caution issued on January 5, 2026 and comes as protests and unrest continue in parts of Iran.

The MEA reiterated that all Indian citizens and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) should exercise due caution, avoid areas of protests or demonstrations, and stay in contact with the Indian Embassy in Tehran. They are also advised to monitor local media and ensure that their travel and immigration documents, including passports and IDs, are readily available.

The advisory emphasises the importance of safety and preparedness, given the fluid situation in Iran, where demonstrations over economic and political issues have been reported across several provinces, prompting warnings and safety measures from multiple governments.

Indians in Iran facing difficulties are urged to contact the Embassy for assistance.

The MEA’s guidance reflects ongoing concerns about the security environment and aims to ensure that Indian citizens abroad remain informed and safe.
