India rejects reports of citizens’ evacuation from UAE through Fujairah port

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Monday rejected media reports suggesting that New Delhi and the United Arab Emirates were working on an arrangement to evacuate Indian nationals through Fujairah port amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.

In a post issued by Ministry of External Affairs’s fact-check unit, the government said, "Fake News Alert! There is no basis in fact for such a story. There is no evacuation being planned. Please stay alert against such false and baseless claims."

The clarification came after media reports claimed that Indian and UAE authorities were exploring contingency plans to help move Indian nationals through Fujairah port if the security situation in the region deteriorated further. The reports also suggested that the port could be used as a transit point because of its strategic location outside the Strait of Hormuz.



However, the MEA has now officially denied those claims and said no such evacuation exercise or agreement is currently under consideration.

MEA urges public to avoid misinformation

The fact-check advisory was issued as tensions continue to rise in the Middle East following recent military escalations in the region, leading to concerns among immigrants and international travellers about possible disruptions and emergency movement plans.

Fujairah, located outside the Strait of Hormuz, is considered strategically important because it serves as a key shipping and oil hub in the United Arab Emirates.

MEA has advised citizens to rely only on verified government advisories and official communication channels for updates related to overseas safety, travel disruptions and emergency response measures.

The MEA’s fact-check division has increasingly issued advisories against misinformation related to foreign policy developments, regional conflicts and evacuation operations involving Indian nationals abroad.
