Indian airlines have announced additional and special flights to the Middle East on March 7 as airlines work to bring back passengers stranded amid continuing volatility in the region.

Several airlines said they are operating limited or additional services to key Gulf destinations while closely monitoring safety conditions and regulatory approvals.

IndiGo operating flights to five Middle East destinations

IndiGo said it will operate flights to five Middle East destinations on March 7 to help passengers complete pending journeys.

In a travel advisory, the airline said many travellers are still trying to reunite with family members after recent disruptions. “Over the past few days, our flights have helped reunite many with their loved ones. Yet, we know that some journeys are still unfinished,” the airline said.

IndiGo added that the flights will operate “subject to prevailing safety conditions and applicable regulatory approvals,” stressing that passenger and crew safety remains the airline’s top priority.

Air India schedules additional repatriation flights

Air India said it continues to operate scheduled flights to and from Jeddah and Muscat after assessing them as safe for operations.

The airline also announced additional non-scheduled flights on March 7 to bring stranded passengers back to India from Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Muscat, Ras Al Khaimah and Sharjah.

Air India said its services to Europe and North America are continuing normally using alternative routings that avoid affected airspace.

Air India Express adds flights across Gulf routes

Air India Express said it has resumed all scheduled operations between Muscat and India, along with select routes from Jeddah.

The airline added that it is also operating additional flights connecting Muscat, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah to India to help stranded passengers return home.

However, the airline warned that bad weather in Fujairah could affect arrivals and departures, as well as connecting flights, and advised travellers to regularly check flight status before heading to the airport.

Airlines focus on clearing travel backlog

Airlines said the additional flights are aimed at easing travel disruptions and clearing the backlog of passengers who were stranded due to flight suspensions and airspace restrictions linked to the ongoing regional tensions.

Airlines continue to monitor the situation in the Middle East and adjust operations as conditions evolve.
