The pilot and copilot of the Air Canada Express flight lost their lives, sources told NBC News, adding that a sergeant and an officer have broken limbs and are in stable condition at a hospital.

The New York-bound CRJ-900 plane struck the Port Authority vehicle at a speed of about 24 miles per hour (39 kph), Reuters reported citing Flightradar24 said. The jet was operated by Jazz Aviation, Air Canada's regional partner.
The port authority issued a statement about the plane crash incident, saying that Jazz Aviation aircraft struck Port Authority firefighting vehicle that was responding to a separate incident at LaGuardia Airport.
The FAA notice, accessed by Reuters, showed that the reason for the halt at the airport was an emergency and there was a high probability of an extension, without specifying any details.
The New York Fire Department issued a statement on the accident at LaGuardia Airport, saying the authority is responding to the reported incident on the runway at LaGuardia airport, but did not provide further details.
Air Canada, the FAA and New York Fire Department did not immediately respond to Reuters' request for comment.
