Four young brothers from an Indian expatriate family who were killed in a road accident in Abu Dhabi were laid to rest together on Tuesday afternoon in Dubai, reported Gulf News.

Ashaz, 14, Ammaar, 12, Ayyash, five, and their seven-year-old brother Azzaam lost their lives following an early-morning car crash on Sunday.

Three of the boys died at the scene along with the family’s domestic worker, 49-year-old Bushra Fayaz Yahu.

Meanwhile, Azzaam succumbed to his injuries on Monday evening at a hospital in Abu Dhabi. The parents and the couple’s only surviving child, 10-year-old Izzaa, remain under medical care, according to the report.

The funeral at Al Qusais Cemetery in Muhaisnah drew hundreds of mourners including relatives, friends and members of the Indian community who stood in silence as the bodies of the children were lowered into the ground side by side.

Their father, Abdul Latheef, was brought to the cemetery in a wheelchair.

Abdul Latheef was told late Sunday night, while Rukhsana, who had undergone surgery for a hand injury, was told the news on Tuesday through a professional counselling team.

While the family prepared for the burial, Izzaa, who is now stable, remained unaware of the full tragedy, spending time on her phone from her hospital bed.

Gulf News further reported that funeral prayers were held in both cities before the burial was completed around 4.30pm.

Moreover, authorities in Dubai granted special permission for the burial to take place in the emirate, even though the family’s residence visas were issued in Ras Al Khaimah. Social workers assisting the family told the news outlet that approval was expedited to honour the family’s wish, as they had been living in Dubai for years and their relatives are based there.
