In a move to improve access to consular services for Indian nationals and persons of Indian origin living in the United States, Ambassador Shri Vinay Kwatra virtually inaugurated eight new Indian Consular Application Centers (ICACs) across major American cities.

The new centers have been opened in Raleigh, Orlando, San Jose, Dallas, Detroit, Columbus, Edison, and Boston. Another ICAC is expected to open soon in Los Angeles.

This expansion increases the total number of ICACs in the US to 17. The additional centers are expected to simplify and speed up delivery of consular services for Indian and American citizens.

All ICACs will now operate six days a week, including Saturdays. Earlier, the centers were open only five days a week. The extended schedule is intended to benefit those who need weekend access.

In addition to core services, the centers will now provide various miscellaneous and attestation services, improving ease of access and reducing processing times.

Ambassador Kwatra said, “This expansion is a result of the Embassy’s continued commitment to make consular services more efficient and accessible.” He added that this effort reflects the deep regard Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi holds for the Indian diaspora.
