Winter schedule: Lucknow airport expands operations to 134 flights, restarts Bangkok service.
The winter schedule will come into effect on October 25 and be fully implemented by November 1. It is expected to connect Lucknow with 20 domestic and 10 international destinations, including Abu Dhabi and Riyadh.
A key addition to the schedule is the resumption of direct flights between Lucknow and Bangkok’s Don Mueang International Airport (DMK), operated by Thai AirAsia. The service is scheduled to arrive in Lucknow at 10.35 pm and depart at 11.30 pm, offering passengers another international travel option.
Direct flights between Lucknow and Bangkok were discontinued on June 5, making the November resumption a return after a gap of more than four months.
An airport source said the proposed expansion was based on schedules submitted by airline partners. However, actual flight movements, frequencies and timings may change depending on airline decisions and operational requirements.
The airport is also strengthening its preparedness for the winter season, when low visibility and dense fog can disrupt flight operations.
Recently, it held a Pre-Low Visibility Procedures (LVP) coordination meeting with airline partners, Air Traffic Control (ATC), the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and other stakeholders. The meeting reviewed operational preparedness and coordination measures to ensure safe flight operations during periods of poor visibility.
Lucknow airport has also handled around 149 flights diverted from other airports since January this year amid operational disruptions. The airport’s role in accommodating diverted flights has helped maintain operational continuity when services at other airports have been affected.
The proposed increase in flight movements comes as the airport prepares to manage higher operational activity during the winter schedule while addressing weather-related challenges.
Airport sources said the final number of movements and the operational timings would depend on the schedules implemented by airlines. Evolving geopolitical developments, including the ongoing crisis in West Asia, could also affect flight operations and schedules.
The winter schedule is expected to expand domestic and international connectivity from Lucknow, although the extent of the increase will depend on airline operations and prevailing conditions.
