The Central Board of Secondary Education announced on Sunday that the board has cancelled the remaining Class 12 examinations for students in several Middle Eastern countries, citing the prevailing security situation in the region from the US-Israel war against Iran.

In an official circular, the board said all Class 12 exams scheduled from March 16 to April 10 for CBSE-affiliated schools in Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates stand cancelled.

"All examinations of Class XII scheduled from 16.03.2026 to 10.04.2026 stand cancelled in case of the students from Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE," read the memo from the board.

The order also applies to examinations that had earlier been postponed through previous circulars issued earlier this month.

"Examinations which were earlier postponed vide circular dated 01.03.2026, 03.03.2026, 05.03.2026, 07.03.2026 and 09.03.2026 shall also stand cancelled," CBSE further said.

The decision follows a series of postponements announced over the past two weeks as the situation in West Asia deteriorated.

CBSE had initially delayed several board examinations after reviewing the “prevailing regional situation” and concerns over the safety and stress faced by students appearing for the exams.

"The feasibility of conducting board examinations for Class XII was further reviewed based on inputs obtained and requests received from schools and authorities of the affected countries," the memo read.

Earlier, the board had also cancelled Class 10 examinations scheduled in the Middle East, while some Class 12 papers were first postponed before the latest decision to cancel the remaining exams entirely.
