Bharti Airtel will raise postpaid tariffs by up to 11% from October 8 while offering subscribers one free five-day international roaming pack each year.

New Delhi: Bharti Airtel has increased monthly post-paid tariffs in the range of 3-11% effective October 8, and bundled one free five-day international roaming pack per SIM or number each year.

Airtel has effectively increased the post-paid tariffs by ₹50 across the majority of its plans. This comes after the company discontinued some popular prepaid plans a few months ago.

The free international roaming pack from Airtel follows a similar offer made by smaller rival Vodafone Idea (Vi) less than two weeks ago. Vi, which offers free roaming for up to three international trips a year, has not increased tariffs.

According to experts, Airtel's hikes are aimed at monetising 5G, particularly with the company launching its Fastlane service some months back to offer better services to post-paid consumers.

Airtel's entry-level post-paid plan will cost about 11% higher at ₹499 a month compared with ₹449 earlier.
