WION launches conference series on business, technology and geopolitics
WION is set to unveil an exciting series of conferences aimed at fostering global business and policy dialogues. These summits will gather influential leaders to explore vital topics such as international economic relations, AI advancements, educa...

The conference series will focus on areas including artificial intelligence, sustainability, tourism, defence, diplomacy, global economics, education, technology and the future of work, alongside discussions on bilateral relations and cross-border partnerships.
The initiative comes as businesses and governments navigate a more fragmented global economic environment. Trade relationships are being reassessed, technology is altering traditional business models, and countries are looking to build new strategic and economic partnerships. For India, the changes have implications ranging from market access and investment to technology adoption and talent.
WION World Conferences will use a mix of keynote sessions, panel discussions, fireside conversations, closed-door roundtables and networking engagements to bring these issues into focus.
Raktim Das, CEO, Zee Media Corporation Limited, said the platform would build on WION's role in taking Indian conversations to international audiences and bringing global conversations to India.
"The world is changing rapidly, and so are the relationships between countries, economies and people," Das said, adding that the forums would bring together those shaping policy, business and society to examine major issues and explore opportunities for greater collaboration.
India-Sri Lanka trade conversation offers an early signal
The platform has already had a soft start. In May, the WION Global Innovation and Leadership Summit in Colombo brought together Sri Lankan business leaders, policymakers and other stakeholders to discuss the future of India-Sri Lanka economic and strategic ties.
Trade and market access emerged as important themes at the summit, with Sri Lankan business leaders calling for a rethink of existing trade dynamics with India and greater economic integration.
The discussion comes at a time when businesses across South Asia are looking at ways to deepen regional economic linkages and expand access to neighbouring markets. For India, stronger commercial relationships in the region could also create opportunities across sectors as businesses respond to evolving supply chains and consumer markets.
The Colombo summit is expected to serve as an early example of the conference platform's focus on cross-border economic and policy conversations.
AI, education and new financial models on the agenda
The next phase of the rollout scheduled for September, will include focused forums on tourism, bond tokenisation and AI in education. These themes reflect the increasingly broad economic impact of technology. AI is moving beyond being primarily a technology-sector discussion to one involving education, workforce planning, productivity and the skills required by businesses.
Bond tokenisation, meanwhile, sits at the intersection of financial markets and blockchain technology, raising questions around how traditional financial instruments could evolve as digital infrastructure develops.
Tourism represents another area where geopolitics, connectivity, investment and consumer behaviour intersect, particularly as countries compete to attract international travellers and build tourism-led economic activity.
The conference series is expected to have engagements across India, Asia and Africa, along with participation in major global platforms such as Davos.
Taking the conference conversation beyond the event
The initiative will also use WION's television, digital and social distribution to extend discussions beyond the events themselves.Interviews, explainers, digital stories, opinion pieces and television specials will bring conference conversations to a wider audience, allowing issues discussed by policymakers and industry leaders to reach businesses and consumers following developments across markets.
With global economic relationships becoming increasingly interconnected, the agenda for such conversations is also widening. Trade can no longer be viewed separately from geopolitics, technology from employment, or investment from shifts in global policy.
WION World Conferences is positioning itself in that intersection, with its upcoming engagements set to examine how these changes could affect India's economic and international outlook.
