Weather Updates Today Delhi NCR: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Delhi and the eastern parts of the National Capital Region (NCR), warning of “intense to very intense spells of rain” over the next few hours. The alert indicates a potential for significant disruptions, including waterlogging, traffic congestion, and visibility issues across the region.

IMD raises warning level across Delhi-NCR

The IMD upgraded its earlier orange alert to a red alert for parts of Delhi and the eastern NCR. Other areas remain under a yellow alert, where light to moderate rain is likely. The IMD stated that the red alert was prompted by the expected intensity of rainfall and associated impacts.

According to the department, “Intense to very intense spells of rain” will impact several areas and advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel and follow traffic advisories.

Roads such as NH-48 from Dhaula Kuan to Rajouri Garden towards Gurugram saw major jams due to waterlogging, with residents reporting slow-moving traffic.
