After a day of incessant rain, Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 38.4 degrees Celsius on Sunday, while the minimum dropped to 25.1 degrees Celsius—about two degrees below the seasonal average.
The cooler conditions brought relief to residents grappling with heat and high humidity earlier in the week.
Rain prediction this week
In its latest forecast, the IMD said Delhi is likely to experience generally cloudy skies, light rain, thunderstorms, and lightning in the coming days.
Daytime temperatures are expected to range between 33 and 35 degrees Celsius, with humidity levels remaining high, between 80 and 90 percent. For Monday, the maximum temperature is forecast to settle between 32 and 34 degrees Celsius, with minimum temperatures likely to hover around 23 to 25 degrees.
Cyclonic circulation
Meteorologists attributed the sustained rainfall to a cyclonic circulation positioned over northern Haryana and neighbouring areas. The weather system is enhancing moisture inflow and promoting cloud formation across Delhi and the adjoining NCR districts.
The IMD’s regional centre in Chandigarh has issued a yellow alert for parts of NCR, including Gurugram, Faridabad, Rewari, Mewat, and Palwal, cautioning residents to stay updated on local forecasts.
Relief after sweltering temperatures
Residents are advised to monitor official updates, as weather conditions could vary across the region during the week. The IMD has asked people to remain cautious while commuting during rain and to take necessary precautions in areas prone to waterlogging.
