'Release him now!': NYC Mayor Mamdani takes on Trump over ICE shooting as protesters hit the Bronx

New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani lashed out at ICE after one person was shot in Bronx, NY during an interaction with ICE agents. He called the incident outrageous and highlighted serious public safety after the shooting incident. DHS confirmed that ICE agents, on October 8, at approximately 4:00 PM ET, were conducting a targeted enforcement operation in the Bronx, New York, to arrest a man from the Dominican Republic with a prior criminal conviction for grand larceny, and multiple prior arrests for assault, robbery, possession of drugs, and weapons possession. The man was identified as Ian Clive Burton. Homeland Security stated that during the enforcement operation, an ICE officer discharged his weapon, injuring the person. Mamdani demanded the release of the arrested person and demanded the entire suspension of ICE enforcement in NY.
