Nepal flash flood fury: 9 dead, many missing; China border hit by mudslide, Bihar on high alert
A sudden and devastating flash flood in Nepal’s Bhote Koshi River has killed at least nine people and caused widespread destruction across Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading. Authorities are investigating whether the flood originated from the Tibet side, with a possible GLOF, avalanche or heavy rainfall being examined. The disaster has also raised concerns beyond Nepal, with a mudslide reported near China’s Gyirong Port and Beijing launching rescue operations. In India, Bihar has stepped up flood preparedness as rising water levels pose a potential downstream threat, with the state monitoring the Gandak, Ganga and Kosi rivers.
