Indian Railways launches first MEMU train in Northeast, boosting Tripura-Assam connectivity

Indian Railways has introduced the Northeast region’s first Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) train, connecting Agartala in Tripura with Karimganj in Assam after railway electrification on the route. Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha said the new service will improve connectivity, while the electric train replaces the earlier DEMU service with a focus on faster and cleaner passenger travel.
