Assam Kemi bridge collapse: Railway staff cites rain, ‘deforestation and construction’ factors

Floodwaters washed away a section of a 300-metre-long iron bridge over the Kemi River in Assam’s Dhemaji district, disrupting road connectivity between Kemi-Purana Jelom and Jonai Sadar. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the government launched relief and rehabilitation measures, while Union Home Minister Amit Shah assured central assistance.
