Alyssa Healy goes unsold in WPL auctions
In a shocking turn of events, Alyssa Healy, the six-time Australian World Cup Champion was not bought by any of the five franchisees.

The right-handed batter was bought by UP Warriorz for Rs 70 lakh in WPL 2025. Shockingly, none of the teams raised their bid for the Australian player. Australia’s star wicket-keeper batter, she is one of the marquee overseas players in the WPL auction. With 1,030 runs in 72 WT20Is at a strike rate of 122.5, including four half-centuries, Healy also brings world-class glovework and finishing ability.

Sophie Devine's bidding sparked a war between Gujarat Giants and Delhi Capitals, who has over 3,000 runs in Women's T20Is. However, the Giants were successful bidders for Devine for Rs 2 crore.

She holds a record of 75 off 39 balls against Indian in the final of the 2020 ICC Women's T20 World Cup at the MCG that helped Australia clinch the trophy. She was also named the Player of the Match. She went berserk in the 2022 ICC Women's ODI World Cup, smashing 129 off 107 balls against West Indies in the semis and then a mammoth 170 off 138 balls in the final against England to help Australia lift the trophy. She was named the Player of the final and the series as well. The 32-year-old holds the record for the highest individual scores by a wicket-keeper in T20Is (148 vs SL) and ODIs (170 vs ENG).

Alyssa Healy also brings her sharp wicket-keeping skills to the table and a wealth of experience. She led UPW to the Eliminator in the first edition of the WPL. Healy succeeded Meg Lanning as Australia's full-time captain across all formats in December 2023.

The Women's Premier League (WPL) mega auction took take place on Thursday in the national capital. A total of 277 players went under the hammer, including 194 Indian players and 83 overseas players.
