Sri Lanka and Pakistan will play for pride R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Friday as the two teams have been knocked out of the Women's World Cup 2025.

The co-host's journey has entailed fluctuating form and frustrating rain washouts. Sri Lanka began their campaign showing that they have a strong bowling unit, reducing India to 124/6, before a revised DLS target of 271 proved to be too big. Their campaign was hampered with a washout against Australia and New Zealand.

Pakistan's campaign has not been any better. It has been marked by moments of promise but has been overshadowed by recurring batting frailties. Their collapses against Bangladesh and India exposed vulnerability under pressure.

However, the bowling has fought hard. Despite spirited performances against Australia and England, they have struggled to close games. Rain washed out the match against New Zealand, before suffering a crushing 150-run loss to South Africa.

The pitch at the R. Premadasa stadium has traditionally assisted spinners as the match goes on, while batters generally find stroke-making easier in the early stages when the ball comes nicely onto the bat. Teams often elect to bat after winning the toss as the surface starts offering more turn and grip under lights. A total in the range of 230–240 is expected to be competitive, based on recent women’s ODI trends at this venue.
