India players pay tribute to Shivalkar, wear black armbands during CT semifinal
The Indian team paid tribute to domestic cricket legend Padmakar Shivalkar on Tuesday by wearing black armbands during their Champions Trophy semifinal against Australia. Shivalkar, a highly skilled left-arm spinner, passed away at 84 due to age-related illness.

Despite his immense talent, Shivalkar never got the chance to represent India, as he played in the era of spin greats like Bishan Singh Bedi. He had a stellar First-Class career, taking 589 wickets in 124 matches for Mumbai.

Recognizing his contributions, the BCCI honored him with the prestigious CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award. Notably, current India skipper Rohit Sharma also hails from Mumbai, the city where Shivalkar made his mark.
