Afghanistan secures historic semi-final berth

In a tense encounter at Arnos Vale Stadium in St Vincent, Afghanistan clinched their maiden semi-final appearance by defeating Bangladesh by eight runs under the DLS method. Facing rain delays, Afghanistan defended a modest 115-5, with Rashid Khan's 4-23 and Naveen ul Haq's 4-26 proving pivotal as Bangladesh fell short chasing a revised target of 114 from 19 overs.

Bangladesh's Litton Das fought valiantly with an unbeaten 54, but Naveen's consecutive strikes of Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman sealed Bangladesh's fate. The victory not only propelled Afghanistan into the semi-finals but also eliminated Australia from contention.

Post-match reflections and future prospects "We've toiled tirelessly for years, dreaming of this moment. It feels surreal," remarked an elated Naveen, named Man of the Match for his stellar performance. The win solidified Afghanistan's second-place finish in the group, setting up a semi-final clash against South Africa in Trinidad.
