Pakistani player Nashra Sandhu was dismissed in an unusual hit-wicket experienced an unusual hit-wicket dismissal during the Women's World Cup 2025 match against Bangladesh at Colombo's R Premadasa Stadium on Thursday.

She became only the third Pakistani player and the first woman to get out hit-wicket in a World Cup match, after Misbah-ul-Haq and Imam-ul-Haq.

The dismissal came on the second ball of the 35th over when Sandhu attempted to play a full-length delivery from Shorna Akter. She withdrew her bat at the last moment, but her willow accidentally struck the stumps during the follow-through.



Bangladesh thrashed Pakistan by seven wickets, led by Rubya Haider's unbeaten half-century and her crucial partnership with captain Nigar Sultana.

Marufa Akter's impressive bowling performance contributed significantly to the win.

Haider scored an unbeaten 54 runs off 77 balls, including eight boundaries. Initially, she played cautiously after Bangladesh lost their early wickets. However, she accelerated once she was settled.

Marufa Akter's opening spell proved decisive as she dismissed Omaima Sohail and Sidra Amin for ducks in the first over.
