Watch Novak Djokovic, world's No.1 tennis player, plays cricket with Steve Smith at Australian Open

Fans at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne were treated to a delightful sight on Thursday as tennis legend Novak Djokovic and cricket stalwart Steve Smith enjoyed a lighthearted moment on the court ahead of the Australian Open.

In a fun exchange, Djokovic tried his hand at cricket, while Smith showcased his tennis skills. Djokovic was particularly impressed with Smith's forehand return, although he did manage to send the ball into the stands while batting.

Djokovic, the top seed and Serbian tennis star, has an impressive record of 24 major wins. He will be aiming to secure his 25th Grand Slam title at this year's Australian Open.


In the previous year, Djokovic emerged victorious in the Australian Open final against Stefanos Tsitsipas. He went on to claim titles at the French Open and the US Open, adding to his remarkable collection.

However, the 36-year-old will face a challenging start to his title defense as he battles an injury concern. A wrist problem affected his performance at the United Cup, where he suffered a loss against Australian player Alex De Minaur.


In a distinctive gathering named 'A Night with Novak and Friends,' Djokovic took part in a tennis match with Australian cricket star Steve Smith, attempted cricket batting, and participated in various sports activities on Melbourne's iconic center court. The Serbian tennis champion, with an impressive record of 10 Australian Open titles, joined forces with notable figures including Olympic runner Peter Bol, basketball star Alan Williams, and Australian gymnast Georgia Godwin. Tennis players Aryna Sabalenka, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Maria Sakkari also shared the stage.
