Crash of the titans
The simmering battle in Formula One erupted in spectacular fashion at the Italian Grand Prix. Championship leader Max Verstappen and defending champion Lewis Hamilton crashed out midway through the race, their cars came together in a move that could have seriously injured Hamilton.

Ricciardo wins in style
Daniel Ricciardo, who had a brilliant start to the race by passing Verstappen at turn one, took the chequered flag. It was McLaren's first win in nearly nine years. Lando Norrios came in 1.747 seconds behind.

Verstappen mainly to blame
Disaster struck on lap 26. Verstappen's car catapulted onto the top of the Mercedes as both slid into the gravel. The Red Bull driver will have a three-place grid drop at the September 26 Russian Grand Prix after stewards ruled he was mainly to blame for the collision. He is still ahead in the championship by 5 points.

Hamilton credits protective halo
Hamilton, who walked away with a sore neck, said the protective halo at the front of F1 car cockpits might have saved his life. This was the second major incident between the two in as many months. They clashed at the British GP, after which Hamilton was handed a 10-second penalty and Verstappen hospitalised.
