England batters failed to read Chakravarthy in the five-match T20I series as he picked 14 wickets at an average of 9.86 with an economy of 7.66, including a five-wicket haul in the third match. He was awarded the Player of the Tournament for his efforts.
This is the 33-year-old's first ODI call-up. He has played only 23 List A games and was the second highest wicket-taker in this season's Vijay Hazare Trophy with 18 wickets in six matches for Tamil Nadu.
His presence in the ODI squad strengths a spin-attack that already included Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar.
The three-match series will begin on February 6, before the team heads to Dubai for the Champions Trophy. They can make changes to their Champions Trophy squad until February 11 without approval from the ICC.
