India’s 14-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi delivered a masterclass in the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2026 final at Harare, scoring 175 runs to power India to a massive 411 for 9. His innings featured the second-fastest century in U-19 World Cup history and set a new benchmark for most sixes in a single U-19 World Cup innings, leaving fans and opponents in awe.

The young opener tore apart the English bowling attack, finishing with 175 runs off just 80 balls, including 15 fours and 15 sixes, at a strike rate of 218.75. His innings is now the highest individual score in a U-19 World Cup final, surpassing former Indian captain Unmukt Chand, who scored 112 against Australia in 2012.

Sooryavanshi reached his century in just 53 balls, making him the third Indian after Chand and Manjot Kalra (101 in 2018) to achieve a century in a U-19 final, and the sixth overall player in the history of the tournament to do so.

While the fastest U-19 century record for this edition belongs to Australian Will Malajczuk, who hit a 51-ball ton against Japan, Sooryavanshi made his mark by out-hitting the record for most sixes in a single U-19 World Cup innings.

He surpassed Michael Hill’s tally of 12 sixes against Namibia in 2008. By the end of the tournament, Sooryavanshi had scored 439 runs at an average of 62.71 and a strike rate of 169.49, including one century, three fifties, and 30 sixes -- the most by any batter in a single U-19 World Cup.

He also now holds the record for most sixes in a Youth ODI innings, overtaking his own previous tally of 14 against UAE U-19 in December last year.

In the final, India won the toss and elected to bat first, setting out to chase a historic sixth U-19 World Cup title. Sooryavanshi’s innings, combined with captain Ayush Mhatre, set the foundation for a commanding total that England struggled to match.
