The youngest-ever player to feature in the tournament, Suryavanshi had captured hearts across India with his fearless knock and raw emotion.
Opening the innings for Rajasthan Royals alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal, Suryavanshi announced his arrival in grand style.
Facing LSG pacer Shardul Thakur, the left-hander smashed the very first ball he faced—a full delivery outside off—for a stunning six over extra cover. The crowd at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium erupted, and even RR’s injured captain Sanju Samson was seen smiling from the dugout.
Suryavanshi went on to score 34 runs in 21 balls, peppering his innings with three boundaries and two sixes. His footwork was confident, his shot selection assured, and his temperament remarkably calm for someone who is still a school-going teenager. He played with the poise of a seasoned professional, showing why Rajasthan Royals had invested ₹1.1 crore in him during the IPL 2025 auction—making him the youngest crorepati in league history at just 13.
But after losing his wicket in the seventh over, the magnitude of the moment seemed to overwhelm the youngster.
As he walked off the pitch, cameras caught him quietly wiping a tear from his cheek, a subtle yet powerful gesture that instantly resonated with millions of fans watching. The clip quickly went viral, with netizens calling it an “emotional moment”.
Suryavanshi’s rise has been meteoric. Born in March 2011, the same year India won the ODI World Cup under MS Dhoni, he came into the limelight after scoring nearly 400 runs for Bihar in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy at age 12.
He later struck a 58-ball century for India U-19 in a four-day game against Australia, and was selected for the U-19 quadrangular series in Andhra Pradesh in 2023.
For Rajasthan Royals, still struggling in the lower half of the table and playing under Riyan Parag in the absence of Sanju Samson, Suryavanshi’s fearless knock brought a much-needed spark. For Indian cricket, it marked the arrival of a prodigy whose journey is just beginning.
