Travis Head, Smith give controversial 'one-word' description for BCCI; netizens react to viral video

The longstanding cricket rivalry between India and Australia has taken an interesting turn off the field, with a recent video sparking heated discussions among fans. Australian cricketers were asked in an interview to describe the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the International Cricket Council (ICC), and Indian cricket in one word.

Their responses, captured in a video shared by ABC SPORT on social media, have since gone viral.

Australian batter Travis Head made headlines with his succinct and pointed answers. When asked to describe the BCCI, he called it “Rulers,” a statement that reflects the board's undisputed influence in global cricket. On being asked about the ICC, he didn’t hesitate to label it “Second,” implying the BCCI’s perceived dominance over the sport’s official governing body.


Star batter Steve Smith brought a lighter tone to the conversation, initially calling the BCCI a “powerhouse” while ICC was described as "not as powerful", before backtracking with a laugh settling on the word “leaders.”

Other cricketers like Glenn Maxwell and Pat Cummins also shared their responses, calling the Indian body as 'powerful.'


India are on a tour of Australia with the series level at 1-1. Both teams will be playing the highly-anticipated Boxing Day Test from December 26 onwards, with an aim to secure an all-important lead and an edge ahead of the final Test at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

One user replied to the viral video and called the comparison 'appropriate'. "Thats an appropriate question, because the BCCI practically does run world cricket."


Meanwhile, the other said that the 'uncomfortable truth' is being spoken.
