This year's Tokyo Olympics saw India bag an unprecedented track-and-field gold, thanks to javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra. But, moments before his medal winning throw, Chopra was looking around the field for his javelin.

Footage has emerged from the event, showing Chopra's javelin in the hands of fellow contestant Arshad Nadeem. In the video, Chopra spots his gear and rushes towards Nadeem to take it back.

Shortly after, Chopra threw the very same javelin 87.58 meters to secure India's medal.

The events leading up to the throw, however, have riled Indian social media users, with many tweeting questioning Nadeem's - who is from Pakistan - behaviour.

"In this video, Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem caught red handed with #NeerajChpora's Javelin. Why would anybody pick someone else's Javelin just before the throw? What was he even thinking?" one user tweeted.

Some have slammed Nadeem's 'unprofessional behaviour'
