Title rivals City, Arsenal face off

Arsenal’s £16m investment in Danny Welbeck looks better value following his two goals for England in midweek. Manager Arsene Wenger will hope this form will continue for his new club, and the striker looks set to make his debut with Olivier Giroud suffering from an ankle injury. Welbeck joins fellow summer signing Alexis Sanchez in the Gunner’s frontline, with the Chilean coming into form, scoring in his last two games.

City’s deadline day deals are unlikely to have the fans as excited as those in North London, only a minor loan exodus which saw Micah Richards, Alvaro Negredo and John Guidetti leave. Boss Manuel Pellegrini will be hoping that the international break will give his side fresh impetuous following a shock home loss to Stoke in their last game. The game, which saw City not score at home for only the second time in 71 matches, comes as a blip in what had been a successful Premier League campaign up to that point.

A substantial win for City could see them lead the Premier League for a short while, before leaders Chelsea kick off later in the day.
