The white-ball tour begins with the T20Is on July 26, 27, and 29 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. The series then moves to Colombo, where the ODIs will be played on August 1, 4, and 7 at the R Premadasa International Stadium.
This will be the first assignment for Team India's newly-appointed head coach Gautam Gambhir. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka will also have a new coach in Sanath Jayasuriya, a legendary batsman known for his magnificent innings against India during his playing days.
Gambhir replaces Rahul Dravid, who led India to their second T20 World Cup title in the Americas. Jayasuriya takes over from Chris Silverwood.
India has yet to announce the squad for the series, but as per PTI reports on July 8, senior players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will be rested for this trip.
It is expected that Hardik Pandya might lead the T20I side, while KL Rahul could captain the ODI team.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka, ousted in the group stages of the T20 World Cup, will also appoint a new skipper after Wanindu Hasaranga stepped down from his post on Thursday.
This will be India's first white-ball bilateral trip to the island nation since 2021, when Dravid served as stand-in coach and Shikhar Dhawan led a second-string side to victory in both the T20I and ODI series.
