Earlier, Rohit Sharma played a magnficient innings to hit 92 off 41 balls as India scored 205 for five against Australia on a belter in their final Super Eights fixture of the T20 World Cup on Monday.
Australia won the toss and put India in to bat and Rohit showed his true class as he hit seven fours and eight sixes including a recording extending 200th in the format.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli got out at duck after he mistimed a pull off Josh Hazlewood to be caught in the deep.
In the end, Rohit did bulk of the damage in his 87-run stand with number three Rishabh Pant (15 off 14), who also got a fine start but couldn't capitalise on that.
Suryakumar Yadav (31 off 15), Hardik Pandya (27 not out off 17) and Shivam Dube (28 off 22) also played their part.
Travis Head led Australia's chase with a belligerent 76 but India managed to restrict them to 181-7 to remain unbeaten in the tournament.
Arshdeep Singh rattled Australia by removing David Warner in the first over in what could be the opener's last game in an Australia shirt.
Mitchell Marsh (37) joined Head and they counter-attacked to put Australia's chase back on track.
Axar Patel leapt to take a stunning one-handed catch at deep square leg to dismiss Marsh but Head raced to a 24-ball fifty.
Kuldeep Yadav castled the dangerous Glenn Maxwell (20) and Jasprit Bumrah effectively sealed India's victory when he dismissed Head with a clever change of pace.
