Suryakumar Yadav to lead team India in T20I series against Australia. Check full squad here

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday announced the squad for the T20I series against Australia which is scheduled for November 23. India's star batter Suryakumar Yadav will lead the team for the said series with Ruturaj Gaikwad as his deputy for the first three games and Shreyas Iyer for the final two.

"The Men’s Selection Committee announced the squad for the upcoming IDFC First Bank 5-match T20I series against Australia scheduled to start from 23rd November, 2023 in Visakhapatnam," the BCCI said in a media advisory.

Notably, the runners-up and the hosts of the recently concluded World Cup feature only three players from the squad- Ishan Kishan, Prasidh Krishna and the newly appointed skipper, Suryakumar.


The majority of the players on the squad competed in the Asian Games and the T20 series against Ireland earlier this year. Axar Patel, who was selected for the World Cup team but had to miss out owing to injury, has rejoined the squad.

Star pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who captained Ireland during the series against the West Indies, has been rested. Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya too, who led India in the series against the West Indies, is still recovering from the injury that ruled him out of the World Cup.
