Supreme Court allows BCCI to spend Rs 58.6 lakh on India-England test match
MUMBAI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India ( BCCI) has got a breather from the Supreme Court on Tuesday after the single judge bench headed by justice Anil Dave allowed the board to disburse Rs 58.66 lakh for the upcoming Indian – England test match, scheduled to kick off on November 9.

BCCI had moved to the court for the permission as the Apex court, on October 21, barred the board from transferring any amount to state associations, or get into any financial transaction above a threshold value, which was to be set by the Lodha Committee.

As the series was to begin with the Rajkot test match, the BCCI had to seek SC’s permission to transfer the amount to the Saurashtra Cricket Association.

Meanwhile, BCCI has already informed the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to bear the expenses of its players’ lodging and boarding for the series, which has five Tests and three 50-over and 20-over matches each.

BCCI’s counsel approached Justice Dave's bench as the Chief Justice TS Thakur is currently heading a Constitution Bench. After hearing the matter in the morning, Justice Dave said he will consult with the Chief Justice before resuming the arguments.
