MILAN, May 14 ( Reuters) - Crotone forward Adrian Stoian watched his team win a key Serie A relegation match against Udinese from his hospital window on Sunday.

The Romanian was rushed to hospital at the start of May after suffering what the club described as a virus, although further details have not been given.

The San Giovanni hospital in Crotone backs onto the modest Enzo Scida stadium and Stoian was spotted at one of the windows with a drip attached to his arm watching his side as they beat Udinese 1-0.

Serie A debutants Crotone were seen as relegation certainties in mid-March but have won five and drawn two of their last seven games, giving them a chance of pulling off a great escape.

Although they remain in the bottom three, they are only one point behind Empoli and two adrift of Genoa, the two sides immediately above the drop zone, with two games to play. (Writing by Brian Homewood in Berne, editing by Pritha Sarkar)
