SMAT 2024: All about Bhanu Pania, Baroda batter who helped team post highest T20 score

Baroda broke the record for the highest ever T20 score after smashing 349/5 against Sikkim in Indore in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on Thursday. The team, captained by Krunal Pandya, thrashed the Sikkim bowling attack all around the ground.

Batting at 3, Bhanu Pania led the charge with a stunning knock of unbeaten 134 off just 51 balls. The knock featured 15 sixes and five fours.

There were half centuries from opener Abhimanyu Singh (53 off 17 balls), Shivalik Sharma (55 off 17 balls) and wicket-keeper Vikram Solanki (50 off 16 balls). Together, the batters hammered 37 sixes and 18 fours, making it a nightmare outing for the Sikkim bowlers.

Who is Bhanu Pania?

Bhanu Pania, who scored 50 off 20 balls and a century off 42 balls, is a 28-year-old right handed middle order batter. He made his List A and T20 debut for Baroda in 2021. He was born in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. The century against Sikkim was his first T20 century and his highest score before this knock was 55. He has not represented any team in the IPL yet.

The batter has played 11 List A matches and scored 210 runs for Baroda with an average of 21 and strike rate of 82.6. He has further represented Baroda in 36 T20s, scoring 594 runs at a strike rate of 152.
