Smaran Ravichandran: Meet 21-year-old Karnataka batter who smashed double century against Punjab

Karnataka's new find Smaran Ravichandran on Friday smashed a double century against Punjab in a Ranji Trophy match at Bengaluru on Friday.

The 21-year year old reached the milestone in 270 balls and smashed 25 fours and three sixes in his knock as he led Karnataka to a massive lead of 365 runs at tea. Smaran was finally dismissed for 203 runs.



On Day 1, Karnataka had shot Punjab down more just 55 runs, with pacer Vasuki Koushik picking up four wickets, while India star batter Shubman Gill managed just four runs.

Who is Smaran Ravichandran?

Smaran Ravichandran is a promising Karnataka batter who has made a mark in domestic cricket. In just five first-class games, nine List A matches, and seven T20 appearances, Smaran has already amassed over 600 runs, including three centuries, including a match winning ton in the final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.


His breakout moment came during the CK Nayudu Trophy, where he scored 829 runs. He followed this up with a an unbeaten 104 in the Maharaja T20 Trophy, cementing his reputation as a player to watch.

Smaran's journey is one of perseverance and hard work. He has faced repeated snubs from the Karnataka senior team in the past. His dedication paid off when he was finally included in Karnataka's squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024/25.
